Outback Madness

There is something magical about being on the cover of a major Australian publication that is marketed towards farmers, cattle rustlers and associated earthy folk. They are all part of the amazing Australian Outback, a place I have grown to love.

Is this some sort of breakthrough for Light Painting Photography? I know the Ball of Light is certainly feeling pretty stoked.

Well a huge day today for Denis Smith Photography and the Ball of Light. The Australia Facebook page did a feature on the Ball of Light this morning.

They only have 3,500,000 followers, and it felt like they were all loving us today. I felt, and still feel very humbled that so many have had a look around the project today.

Not only are the images wonderful, but the photo shoot gave me real inspiration to learn more about flash photography, and since we met I have been doing more of this. It certainly is an art in itself, but one that can add so much to an image.

Smibs.tv Interview

On Thursday 7th July I gave an interview with SMIBS TV. They have uploaded the video to watch.

I had to get up at 3am to do it, so it takes me a while to get into it! The theme of the interview was light painting, but we talk about my story a bit. Hope that doesn’t get too boring for ya!

I thought it went well, and Peter and I discussed quite a lot in the time we had. He plays the Ball of Light movie in two parts, but you can jump over that if you have seen it before.
