Ball of Light
Ball of Light – The Movie
Ball of Light - The Movie

I have been lucky enough to work with a wonderful film maker, Sam Collins, to produce a short film about the Ball of Light and how it came to be part of my life.

I would like thank Jeremy ( www.flickr.com/photos/tackyshack/ ) and Michael ( www.flickr.com/photos/txross/ ) for allowing me to use some of their work in the film. You are both an inspiration to me.

I hope you enjoy, and maybe get a bit of an insight into the Ball of Light, and me as a human.

Thank you for sharing your story Denis – I watched your film on my iphone while procrastinating on a boring Thursday morning in a job that underwhelms me with a massive hangover from the night before … Your film was a portal which took me to a place where my life could be different if I changed my choices and found my passion ..
Your work is beautiful and your story inspiring. You belong on http://www.ted.com amongst others who inspire people to live better, more creative, less toxic lives! Thanks again.

Hi Denis, I have just randomly found your video on the light painting site and it's incredible! Your work is stunning, and inspiring in equal measure. Wonderfully sculptural.
    Thank you.

  3. Hey, possibly this post is not on topic but in any event, I have been browsing about your site and it looks really neat. It is easy to see I am creating a new blog and I am struggling to make it look great, and supply excellent subject matter. I have learned a lot here and I look forward to additional updates and will be returning.

  4. Great project and a nicely made film. Well done!

love this ball of light photography.  reminds me of when i was a photography student in college.  i would send out an annual christmas card and one year i decided to paint with light with time exposures.  fairly easy to create christmas trees and such.  difficult to learn how to write and spell merry christmas backwards so that it would show up correctly in the image.  very nice work.

    Wonderful little movie. Thank you!
I do a lot of lightpainting myself and just started to do more in the nature and more abstract, too.
May I ask what lights you use for the spheres? My LEDs are too thin – doesn't look very nice. Do you have some kind of colored foil?

I admire your passion for photography. I have started photography less than a year ago. Yet i haven't had much success, due to many things getting in my way. Modern Life and running 2 expensive hobby's.

A link was posted to Wimp.com and that's how you got my attention.

First off your art is fantastic, and you are an inspiration, I can totally relate to your story. So thanks for sharing.

There are two stories here. One: you had the balls to walk away from a job that you hated.
Two: you found something that fulfilled you. Walking away from a horrible high salary job is extremely hard to do but doable finding something that gives your life meaning is like being struck by lightning. You hear it happens to people but you can’t just make it happen.

Everyones question will be, so now you have quit your job how do you support your self and your family.
Did you have to find a local low stress low salary job just to get by, and maybe that job is a drag too. Maybe finding something you love doing was the real answer here.

    Awesome story thankyou.

so i just saw your video, and i think it's pretty awesome! i knoticed you use one hand to spin the light around. what would happen if you used another light in your other hand? and the length was shorter?
