Toxic Land

My Trip to Waukaringa in December 2011 was to locate an abandoned gold mine spotted on Google Earth, but instead I was greeted with abandoned filth. What I found moved me, more than it should have.

I really felt a sense of disgust that our stunning landscape could be so abused by others. It is a reality that our modern society needs metals such as gold to function (and some for greed). But this site is more than 50 years abandoned, and this is the state of it still! The deepness of the red in this liquid was startling.
