The Tree
Being in the middle of nowhere, alone with the stars, the immensity of the universe in full display is one of the incredible luxuries I have in my life.
There is so much about this image I love, and makes it an incredible photograph. This is in the Flinders Ranges along one of the hundreds of creek beds. It took me a long time to fond this tree. Just the right one.
This is a single exposure. It is not a composite of multiple images like almost all “astro” images. Why does this matter? Lighting the tree in the front with me in it, illuminating the back of the tree and ground around it along with a clear milky way took many many attempts. I will cover the details in the supporting video (link sent with print) and we will explore this together. It also means what you see here is real, you would see this image on the ac of the camera when the exposure finishes.
